*Books have been selected with great care and with the goals to include: diversity of genre and writing style, variety of narrator/main character, assortment of life situations and themes, and award winners. All books have been deemed appropriate to their assigned grade levels in consultation with school staff, other SMSD Chat N Chew coordinators, and Common Sense Media. Some books contain mild language or name calling or minor roughness. Some titles deal with more serious themes such as loss, disability, ethnocentrism or relocation.
